Fenugreek is a plant in the family Fabaceae. Fenugreek is used both as a herb (the leaves) and as a spice (the seed).
The cuboid yellow to amber coloured Fenugreek seed is frequently used in the preparation of PIckles, Curry Powders and Pastes and is often used in the cuisines of the Indian sub continent.
The young leaves and sprouts of Fenugreek are eaten as greens and the fresh and dried leaves are used to flavour many dishes. The dried leaves, called Kasoori Methi have a bitter taste and a strong smell.
